Should it be illegal to wear Harley Davidson clothing if you don’t own a Harley?
I was out at a pretty hard core biker bar in San Francisco yesterday called Underdogs Sports Bar and I noticed a bunch of guys wearing Harley Davidson T shirts at the bar. Since I am a avid HD rider, I introduced myself and talked to them for a while. They seemed like really cool guys. When they left, I looked out the window to see what kind of Hogs they rode.
They all got into a Prius and drove away! I was floored!
I don’t think people should be able to wear HD clothing unless they actually ride Harley’s.
What do you think?
Bub,
“I guess you think it should be illegal to wear a football jersey unless you are a pro football player?”
Great point! Maybe that should be illegal too. I wish we could have gotten this on the November ballot.

I think you need to find something worthwhile to worry about.
no
Maybe the have HD, but were responsible enough to not dive them and drink, or maybe the just bought them to support the HD owners.
i think we should have the government step in an tell what we should wear and drive, that’s what i think…..
If your shirt reads “princess” do you really have to be a princess? Old Navy is worn by mostly young people who have never been to sea. Not everyone can afford a Harley or maybe it wasn’t practical for them to ride that day for some reason. I think wearing the clothing shows support for something they think is cool and even if they are not riding one at the time, I think its cool they can express their appreciation.
It should only be illegal if your riding the bus. I have a car and a Harley.
Having at one time lived in the SF bay area, I can tell you if you think Underdogs sports bar is a hard core biker bar, then you have never actually been in one. Biker friendly does not equal hard core.
Also, you don’t know they don’t own harley’s, you just saw them get into one car. You have no idea of knowing what they own or ride or drive.
Your an avid harley rider huh? Well, as a biker, when living down there in the sunshine I put in general about 25,000 miles a year on my bike. Up here in the pacific north west I’m still averaging close to 20,000. Somehow, I don’t think your in that catagory if you think Underdogs is hard core.
Nice little place over in Niles Canyon east of Fremont, not hard to find, is pretty hard core. Use caution, lots of patch holders there, very hard core individuals that do not suffer fools gladly.
If you think you can hang with the hard core crowd, check it out. Also Shorty’s over in Martinez gets it’s fair share of hard core individuals.
Folks that ride up to Alices on hwy 35 on saturdays are RUBS, not hard core.
I guess you think it should be illegal to wear a football jersey unless you are a pro football player? Maybe their harleys were at home?
Now that I think about it, most of the “hardcore” harley riders I know, don’t wear many HD shirts. Their attire is a lot more “hardcore” than an advertisement for a specific HD dealer.
what I think is that you sound like a poser.
Thats depends on ur thinking , Nothing any else.
I’ve been building and riding Harleys for many years. I currently have 3. I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing any officially licensed “Motorclothes” aka poser uniforms.
I guess all the other problems in your world must have been fixed for this to seem important…
How are those Toyota Prius’? They must be relatively roomy. I’m still a little leary about those hybrids though. I think I’ll wait a few years before I decide if I want one or not.
i know several people who work for different H-D dealerships in TX and a few have told me that for fiscal year 2006 that motor clothes alone kept Harley in the black. So all of these so-called posers are keeping a national treasure afloat. fans are fans are fans.
let them be and just smile and remember people are more violently opposed to fur than leather because it safer to harass rich women than motorcycle gangs…..
If HD want me to advertise their product by wearing their clothing, they should pay me to do so.
I saw a guy with a shirt that said ” McCain and Palin”. What do think should be done about that?
Personally, I never wear my riding gear in any “hard core” bars in San Francisco. I wouldn’t want to be mistaken for something else – (not that there is anything wrong with that).
Were there any women in this bar?
hahaha i saw the same thing. i was walking a long my town and saw a couple of guys wearing all this harley stuff like everything!! from the boots to the jackets. so i just walk away, i turn around and they get into a civic! but anyway, well, i mean i dont think it should be illegal. i mean at least they’re acknowladging that they ride harley’s or at least like em right? maybe they decided not to ride to the bar that day.. who knows? but that’s just funny riding away in a prius.
It should be a capital crime (death) to wear a Tommy t-shirt if your not a tommy.
